CUET (UG) – 2023, also known as the Common University Entrance Test, is a national-level exam that will provide a single platform for students who want admission in any of the Central Universities for the academic session 2023-24.

The test will offer equal opportunities to all candidates, particularly those from rural and remote areas, and help establish better connections with the universities. This single entrance test will be used to admit candidates to various UG courses in the academic year 2023-24, based on their NTA Score.

The medium of the examination is available in 13 languages, including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. However, the selection of the medium will be restricted to particular States/UTs, as per the criteria given on https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/

CUET (UG) – 2023 is being offered in 411 cities, including 24 cities outside India. PwBD candidates have the option to either bring their scribe or ask NTA to provide one. For this, they need to opt in to the online application form for CUET (UG) – 2023.

If none of the options are correct or a question is found to be wrong or dropped, then all candidates who have attempted that question will be given five marks.

The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) – 2023 is set to benefit students in several ways.

First, it helps to reduce the stress that students face in securing high marks in their Class 12 Board Examination. Previously, students needed to score above 95% to secure admission to their preferred university. However, with the introduction of CUET (UG) – 2023, the focus is now on standardized evaluation, thereby alleviating the pressure on students to obtain exceptionally high scores.

Additionally, the CUET (UG) – 2023 ensures that the marking system is standardized across different boards. Since the pattern and scoring system of questions can vary significantly between different boards, the CUET (UG) – 2023 helps to create a level playing field. By standardizing the evaluation process, subjectivity in the assessment of descriptive-type papers can be avoided.

Moreover, the CUET (UG) – 2023 exam pattern comprises objective-type multiple-choice questions. This makes the evaluation process more objective and transparent, and therefore less prone to subjectivity. The Computer-Based Test mode used in CUET (UG) – 2023 ensures that the result processing is done without human intervention, making the process more efficient and reliable.

Another significant advantage of CUET (UG) – 2023 is that it is based on the Class 12 syllabus. Hence, students do not need to prepare for it separately. The exam covers a wide range of subjects, languages, and a general test, giving students ample options to choose from. With 27 subjects, 33 languages, and a general test to choose from, students can select the subject, language, general test of their choice as per the requirements of the university to which they seek admission.

Overview of the Examinations

CUET (UG) – 2023 is conducted in multiple languages, catering to the needs of students from different states and regions. Drawing from the National Education Policy (NEP), the exam will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, and other languages, providing greater accessibility to students and making the exam more inclusive.

Preparing for both CUET (UG) – 2023 and the Board Examinations may seem like a daunting task for students, but the good news is that the syllabus for the subject/domain tests of CUET (UG) – 2023 will be based on Class 12. This means that students do not have to prepare for both exams separately, as they can focus on their Class 12 curriculum, which will automatically prepare them for CUET (UG) – 2023.

Moreover, the effort that students put into the CUET (UG) – 2023 exam will also help them prepare well for their Board Examinations. It will strengthen their learning and enhance their understanding of the subject matter. They will also get the opportunity to practice answering objective-type questions. The exam offers a choice of 10 subjects from three sections: Section IA, Section IB, and Section II. Section III is the General Test. The examination will be conducted over multiple days, with three slots per day.

The number of questions per subject varies based on the section. For Sections IA and IB, candidates must attempt 40 out of 50 questions. In Section II, candidates must attempt 40 out of 50 questions. In Section III, candidates must attempt 50 out of 60 questions. However, in certain subjects such as Accountancy, Economics, Physics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Applied Mathematics.

Understanding the Score Card and Percentile Ranking System

NTA score is a percentile score for the candidate in the test in which he appeared. It is an indicator of the relative position of the candidates among those who appeared in the test.

After the CUET (UG) – 2023 exam, the question paper and answer keys will be made available on the NTA website. Candidates can challenge the answer keys by paying a non-refundable fee of 200/- per answer key challenged, through the online challenge facility window.

The exact dates for this facility will be announced on the NTA website, and candidates are advised to stay updated on the website for such announcements.

All challenges will be verified by experts, and the answer keys will be finalized based on the results of the verification process. The outcome of the challenges will not be shown to the candidates. The results of the exam will be processed based on the final answer keys that have been verified by the experts.

The final answer keys, which will be used to process the CUET (UG) – 2023 results, will be posted on the NTA website before the release of the results. There will be negative markings as per the criteria.
